Introduced to the subject at the young age of 11, it is thanks to his father that Khalid Kulaib became the producer he is today. In fact, it was when the young Khalid, 18 years old at the time, wanted to go to university that everything changed for him and his farm. Encouraged by his father, he decided to sell the coffee from his farm in the local market to finance his studies. Since then, fresh out of college, he has become a proud producer of Yemeni coffee with exceptional batches.
Yemenia, which translates into Arabic as Yemeni Mother is the most important discovery in Arabica coffee since the 1900s. Yemenia has similar berry notes to SL-28 but has the sweetness of yellow Bourbon and the aromatic complexity of Geisha. This Yemenia that Khalid Kulaib offers starts with the aromatic presence of apple and lemongrass which then slips into the sweetness of jasmine mixed with the bitterness of chocolate and the sugar of plum. It all ends beautifully with the strong final note of honey. A true desert delight.
