Description

Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian, the founder of JNP Coffees, is undoubtedly one of the most influential people in the coffee business in Burundi today. Coffee grown in Ngozi province has a special meaning for Jeanine, as it is where her mother grew up. Memories of her mother leading the family's coffee harvest to cover school fees are woven into the name of this coffee. Bahire, in Kirundi, is a kind of wish for happiness addressed to others that roughly translates to "be well, be successful, be prosperous, be happy. Bahire is a micro-community of smallholders selected from one of JNP Coffee's largest communities, thanks to their unique terroir. The producer group works closely with JNP Coffee-trained Q Graders. In Burundi, the best practices of quality and selection of lots are all done by JNP Coffee, so this organization is very important in the world of Burundi coffee.
