producer
Kebede and his family have been producing coffee in the village of Wogida, located in the famous Yirgacheffe district, since 2009. This region is world-renowned for its batches with notes of black tea, stone fruits and citrus. What is remarkable is that Kebede initially targeted only the local market. A decade later, he won first place at the Cup of Excellence in Ethiopia in 2020. This achievement is a testament to his ambition and passion!
process
After harvest, the coffee cherries are spread out on sun-drying beds, where they are turned regularly to ensure even drying. This process allows the cherries to dry with their pulp intact, infusing the beans with unique sweet and fruity notes. Once dried, the cherries are hulled to remove the dry skin, revealing beans with intense and complex aromas.
profile
The Kurume variety is one of the regional varieties originating from the Yirgacheffe region. As is often the case with regional varieties, the names of the coffee varieties are inspired by the native trees. In the cup, this variety reveals complex aromas of stone fruits, lemon, black tea, rose, honey and milk chocolate.
