I am currently writing from San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Because many of you asked questions about this part of our work, I decided to talk more about our purchasing process (searching for rare batches, visiting our partners'farms...)We recently received an invitation from our partner Coagricsal : we decided to visit its plantations.
I strongly invite you to listen, and above all subscribe, to this podcast which revolves around coffee. A creation by Mr. Sébastien Blondeau which adds to the French-speaking café culture in Quebec. So I had the honor of being the guest of Sébastien who came to see us in Carleton-sur-Mer to understand how a roaster like us manages to survive in a small village in Gaspésie :-)
I'll tell you an anecdote. I was on vacation somewhere in Quebec. In a restaurant ranked #1 according to trip advisor, really good, the food was good, good service. When I got to dessert, the waiter offered me a coffee.
I then ask him what coffee he serves, he answers: fair trade coffee.
Last November 28, I had the knife between my teeth for the Cup of Excellence Brazil auction, Pulped Natural.
And I finally got lot #3. Yes, yes, you read correctly, batch #3!
Starting at 9 a.m. today, I will be in the middle of the battle to purchase a batch of coffee for our Select Reserve collection at the Cup of Excellence Brasil ''Pulped Natural'' auction.
I prepared myself psychologically (and fiscally) to buy a coffee at this year's Cup - of - Excellence . By the end of the year there will be auctions for the premium lots from Costa Rica, Honduras and Guatemala in June and Brazil (Natural + Pulped natural) in December.
let's have a coffee!
