Coffee & Cocoa under pressure – Between unstable markets and new realities
In this episode of Comptoir's Café, Chocolat & Discussions , Dany Marquis offers a straightforward dive into the latest coffee and cocoa news. A stripped-down version of the May 21 live broadcast, condensed to better capture the major issues facing our industry.
A coffee market under high pressure
The price of Arabica is in turmoil: unstable weather in Brazil, low stocks, and extreme volatility. One container on the way, and the headache begins. Prices are adjusted upward, but it's difficult to keep up with a market that's rising faster than it's falling.
Cocoa prices explode
Cocoa now costs over $10 per kilo. Ivory Coast and Ghana are seeing their harvests plummet, while demand is soaring. Added to this are new US taxes on imported cocoa. The result: skyrocketing costs and massive investments required.
Cup of Excellence: the best of world coffee
We're keeping a close eye on the results of the prestigious Cup of Excellence competition. Dany shares her thoughts on this elite competition and announces the upcoming arrival of seven award-winning coffees, which will be roasted with our new roaster—and unveiled in freshly redesigned packaging.
